Ladies, Bapak would like to explain something in connection with the training ( latihan ) all of you have received and are following. It is necessary for Bapak to clarify the true significance of what occurs in the latihan. In reality, the latihan all of you have received is a spiritual training, which means that it is a training of the soul ( jiwa ), so that later when you die, the soul will be able to have life without end.
Clearly, this latihan you have been doing is a training for your life hereafter. While you are still in this world, you are beginning to be trained for life after death. It is for this reason that you cannot possibly figure out or understand the meaning and purpose of what happens in the latihan. What you receive, and that which awakens you, is a power that comes from the soul of man and from the Great Life, because of the One God. To make this more clear to you, Bapak will explain a little about the structure of the Great Life as it is arranged by God's will.
Life is, not has been; life is and always will be. Life is constant, unchanging. And life is arranged in a life structure so that life can create forms as a target for the life that is suspended in that structure.
Life is structured in seven levels. The first of these is the life which is the force of the material spirit. The second is the spirit or life force called the vegetable spirit or the force of plants. The third is the force or spirit called the animal life force. And the fourth is the life force called jasmani, that of humans. The fifth is the force or spirit called rohani, that is, the perfect life force, which is higher than the human.
Why doesn't Bapak give a name, 'A', for example, to define a life force that is more perfect and more powerful than the human? Because there is no name. Even if you looked everywhere, in this whole continent there is no name to suit the quality that is in the rohani life force.
The sixth is the force or spirit or life force called, well they just refer to it as the rahmani, and it is higher, more powerful, and one is even more at a loss to say what it really is. The awareness and understanding of man's mind are not capable of giving a name to define that which is in the rahmani life force. The seventh is referred to by the word rabani, and the human mind is quite incapable of conceiving it at all.
Such is the structure of the Great Life, which exists and envelops both that which is this world and that beyond this world.
Besides these seven life forces, there is still another life force that acts as a connector, that is to say, it connects from the highest to the lowest and from the lowest to the highest. This life force is called the roh Ilafi. Besides the roh Ilafi, the Great Life Force that is a connector, there is yet another life force that accompanies it, making a total of nine. It is called the roh kudus or Rohulkudus. With this life structure, the Great Life is complete, by the will of the One God.
Of course, the life forces in this structure interact and enter into a state of friction one with another. And from that friction in the Great Life, the elements are created. First, the element of light is created. And the light shines and shines until from it, in turn, is created something coarser than light, that is, wind or air. From air, in turn, water and earth, or solid matter, are created.
When these four elements have been created in their various conditions of life, their substances are also created. From light is created the substance fire. From wind is created wind also, from water, and from matter the earth we inhabit. Hence, on this earth are earth, water, wind and fire. Perhaps this conforms with the stories of the prophets, where it is told that before anything existed, in the beginning, there was light.
From these elements and their substances, the outward forms of existence on this earth were created: minerals, plants, animals and humans. It should not be supposed that human beings or people came from apes or monkeys, or from matter. Human beings came from the human, created because of the friction of elements just described. All the outward forms of existence are adapted to the conditions of this earth we inhabit, and are filled with the four substances. For this reason, if you are able, because of God's power and greatness, to dive down into your real self, it is the same as penetrating the whole extent of this earth which we inhabit.
Such is the essential structure in the Great Life, together with its various forms. All the various forms - the elements, their substances and the outward forms - are created and exist because of friction within the life structure. Consequently, the forces are also arranged in a structure within the elements, substances and outward forms. Clearly, the outward forms are new. Your physical bodies, for example, are forms that are new, for they were preceded by the substances, elements and life forces. Suppose you want to understand the Great Life, or the meaning and use of the life that sets the self of man in motion. It will not be possible for you to understand this until there is a power from within that moves this new outward form, so that this new outward form is able to receive.
It is for this reason that Bapak often tells you not to think about it. Do not try to understand it. Do not be in a hurry and want to understand what you have received. For it is impossible for you to understand if you are not yet really able to receive something beyond the power of the mind, desires and imagination. After all, these are not the instruments that will enable you to dive down deep within yourself and understand what life forces and spirit really are. Moreover, the stirrings of the mind, the brain, the heart and sexual desire are motivated by what you have encountered since you have been in this world.
People often try to understand the reality of life with their will, mind and feelings, and they picture the inner life as if it were merely like life in this world. They may picture paradise as a beautiful place with many trees and a wonderful view, and plenty of entertainment. You may even imagine that in paradise there are many beautiful things made of gold and diamonds and all kinds of fine materials. Why is this? The reason is that the understanding in your heads and the awareness in your hearts are the awareness and understanding of this world, or of worldly matters.
Clearly, it is impossible for you to fathom, to be given to know or understand by God's greatness or by God's will, until you are able to leave behind the three worldly parts: worldly understanding, worldly awareness and worldly passion, because worldly passion, understanding and awareness make it difficult for your soul ( jiwa ) to be able to go to its rightful place, the place of its original nature. Why should this be? The reason is that this coarse physical form came into existence because of its substance, and that substance came into existence because of the primary elements. Clearly, even the finest, most refined thoughts would still make it difficult for man's soul to penetrate to the light. It is not the coarse physical body alone, but also your thinking and understanding which make it difficult, even impossible, for your soul to return to its original home.
That is why, in the true spiritual life, there is no teaching. It is only by the grace of God that we can be purified and become clean; and in that state of purity everything will happen by itself. If Bapak draws this, the coarse part is here, the substance is here, and the elements are here. Only then can you come to here. That is life.
Even to enter the world or sphere of substance you must leave behind this coarse visible part. Bapak will clarify further, to give you a picture - please excuse Bapak, children, because spiritual matters are also about life - for example, before a child or a human being comes into existence. Before a child is created, before the union between man and woman, the man feels drawn to the woman and the woman feels drawn to the man. At that moment, the man and woman are still at the stage where light is struck by light. The sign of this is that a person who is in that state feels hot. Even if you have not yet experienced it, Bapak himself has experienced this hot feeling in the body. If you have experienced it, you may confirm what Bapak is saying.
Then, after that, is created the next in the structural sequence of elements, that is, air. After the desire and the ardor, yearning like fire, you feel, at times, like someone with a sickness or fever, but in fact you are not ill. It is as if you have a cold, and you have an attack of wind or gas. After that, water is created, and you are in a watery state, that is, you give out sweat. Then, finally, is created that which resembles solid matter, like earth. If, at that moment, the man has union with the woman - as Bapak said before, Bapak asks to be excused, because these are secret things - he emits a substance like water, and this is called the water of life, because it contains the seed of life, in the case of man, the seed of the life of a human being.
So a cluster of elements is already formed in the substance, and enters the body of the woman. There it is fertilized and receives nourishment until it emerges as a human baby. If you want to be able to feel the true life, the life of your inner self, it is as though you go back to being like a baby, and like that white fluid again. After that, you go back again to the elements, which are completely invisible, even though the force of light is there. Only then can you penetrate to the structure of life, the life of spirit.
Clearly, to understand life that far, even to return to the place of your origins when you were still a white liquid, you have to leave behind the knowledge of your coarse part which you have had since you became a human being. Because the training ( latihan ) you receive is willed by God, it will give you the way by the will and through the greatness of God Himself. In other words, the training you receive is a training of the soul ( jiwa ), not a physical exercise, not an exercise of the mind, not an exercise of the understanding, nor an exercise of the feelings or will.
Bapak hopes you will always continue to seek the knowledge of the mind, and work with your mind, in short, carry out the duties of your life in this world. The soul will look after itself. The soul will work by itself. The soul will be exercised and do the latihan by itself. That is why Bapak tells you not to try to insert your thinking and understanding deep into your inner feeling, because they will not succeed. It is not possible for the thinking mind to plumb those depths, unless it is the will of God Himself. Then there will be a pouring from the fount within, and the doors will open, our coarse forms will open, and the door will open wide from within the real inner self.
In reality, what you receive in the latihan is an exercise of life after death or life in death, so that before you die, your soul will have been trained and awakened from death or from its sleep.
People with wide knowledge have the opinion that they can come to it with their knowledge. They think they will be able to know and feel in the life after death. But, in reality, their real state turns out to be, not life after death, but death itself. For the life they can live there is not the kind of life Bapak has just explained, but life in their ordinary human understanding and awareness. They cannot possibly leave this world we are now living in. The strength that is in this human form is limited to this form. Take the eyes, for example. Man's sight cannot see very far, because it is limited to the strength of the eye. In his hearing, man cannot hear farther than he wishes to, because he is limited by the nature of the ear. Likewise, man cannot understand beyond human understanding because he is limited by the nature of the human brain. If, for example, you ask God to be able to receive understanding beyond the nature of the brain, you will have to leave it behind and follow God's will. For only God can guide you, children, to a realm, or to a state that is beyond the strength of your nature.
The training ( latihan ) all of you receive is really a kind of step that is very far advanced. Why is that? Consider, for example, those people who go to tremendous lengths, isolating themselves in faraway, lonely places, cutting down on all the needs of their life in this world, and practicing meditation. They do this in the hope of receiving a voice from within - a voice, a power and movement from the living soul. Whereas you can receive the voice from your living soul very easily in the midst of life, surrounded by crowds of people, and thinking of all kinds of things as usual. It is all because of God's will and God's greatness. Nevertheless you receive very easily the fruit for which other people, who have not discovered this yet, have been striving and working hard to find, for perhaps more than thirty or forty years. What you have received is the movement, voice and feeling of life. The Dutch call it de stem des doods ( the voice of death ). You will meet it and receive it for real one day when you have left this world.
You now have two kinds of work, or two ways of working: one is the ordinary way for this world, where you do not do the latihan, and the other is the way you receive in the latihan, leading to life after death, so that when you die the life there will not be strange to you.
Of course, we cannot use for this world what we obtain in life after death, or in the latihan - which is the same as what we obtain after death. But what you receive in the latihan will be useful, very useful, indeed extremely useful, later on when you have died. For, when you face death, children, and you are in the final throes, as this world fades away, all your worldly knowledge will vanish in an instant. Also at that moment will emerge the accessories and instruments you need to use for continuing your life after death. The instruments in the life after death are referred to as instruments or entities which are kadim ( eternal ). Kadim means unbreakable, unlimited and unaffected by the kinds of things that affect objects in this world, which can be burnt, can break, spoil, rust and wear out. Our worldly instruments are forms that break, stop and have limits. They do not go beyond the confines of the grave.
This clarification about spiritual matters is given so that you will not keep asking, 'What does this mean, what is this for, and why don't I understand?' When your mind, heart, feelings and will are like that, it does not make your receiving go quickly and smoothly. On the contrary, it blocks your receiving of God's gift to you.
This is Bapak's explanation concerning spiritual matters, for you to ponder and feel and then, not suppress but paralyze the constant desire to be clever or quick. Bapak himself is an example, as the first to receive this, and the one who began it here - Bapak did not study these things at all. How then can Bapak give explanations like this? It is not because of Bapak's knowledge. It is because Bapak has received God's gift, and through that gift, Bapak is given to know, and given understanding and clarity by God, spiritually.
Bapak now brings to an end his explanation about spiritual matters, and Bapak will follow it up by doing a little testing with all of you. No matter what others may say, do not feel proud, because this is all guidance from God, and guidance from the life of the soul ( jiwa ). Only, for all of you it is a step that will verify and confirm for you that man is a creature who is more worthy than material objects, plants, animals and ordinary humans. For you are able to grasp and receive in advance how it will be and what will happen if you carry out a given proposition.

So you need not be afraid that, if you eat meat you will be sinning, or that if you marry you will be sinning. Do not be afraid. These are provisions for man's life. Do not suppose that someone who is not married or doesn't marry is - as they say -without sin. Rather, the person sins because he or she is unwilling to accept the provisions that God has given to man. Do not be afraid to eat meat, because meat is made available for man's life. All the prophets ate meat.
What is necessary now is to know how to use things correctly in accordance with God's will. This could be compared with your having a weapon. It is all right to have a firearm, provided you are able to use it properly and you know what it is for. You would not try to eradicate mosquitoes by shooting at them with a rifle.
The important thing is that you should know the correct use of everything. You will get this in the latihan. But do not start to hope for it and wonder when it will happen. Just do the latihan and you will receive it yourself when the right time comes.

In the latihan - well, you have not yet come to the point where you are able to be aware of it - but the truth is that, in the latihan you are following, your soul gets bigger and bigger and bigger until the soul envelops the coarse physical body. The proof is like this: please receive.
