Ladies, this evening Bapak would like to give you some clarifications about the significance of the spiritual training [latihan] you have received and are doing.
The real significance of this training you receive is that it is the true worship of God. It is not just an ordinary exercise. As you yourselves have experienced, the movements that arise from within you are free from your desires and thinking. In reality, this is what people are looking for when they try to receive a movement from within or a voice from their soul [jiwa]. Clearly, movements that arise from within, free of all thoughts and free of your will, are movements which come from the One God. You haven't received many movements yet, and they are not yet complete, but the movements you have received are God's will for mankind. Although you haven't yet received many of them, they arise because of God's power. Certainly, then, these movements are in fulfilment of God's will.
And that is the real meaning of what is called the worship of God. For, in the advice of the prophets as given in the holy books, it is explained that people can worship and call upon God's name in the right way if they can let go of their desires and thinking. It is clear then that what you all have received is God's will. In truth, this is what is called worship of God.
The reason why you are not yet able to understand the significance of what you receive in the latihan is that it is not yet time. You haven't yet reached that level. You can be compared to very small children, whose life movements still only consist in a little walking, touching, seeing and so on. So it is not yet the time for you to enter a certain level of instruction, so to speak. The capacity within your inner self is not yet ready for it, and there are no signs of it yet. Such is the greatness and wisdom of the One God. God gives knowledge to people when they are able to receive and use what they receive from Him. However, not a few people only receive a very little from God's grace, and then use it in such a way that they get into situations that are completely undesirable. This is why God in His wisdom gives something to man when he is really able to receive and use it.
Bapak always advises you to face God with a feeling of patience and entrusting yourself to God with sincere submission. For that is the main requirement, the absolute condition for man to obtain grace and inspiration from the One God. It is not God's will that God should be sought with the mind. It is not God's will that God should be sought in the way people of the tarek [from tarekat: mystical way, in Islam] seek, by weighing things and making comparisons. The One God cannot be compared with anything. That is why God is referred to as One, the One who has power over all things.
That is the difference between man and God. If you feel and think for a moment, human beings and this earth, and everything you can see, the stars in the firmament - all these beautiful things could not possibly be thought of and made by man. It is all the work of the One God. So, God's power cannot possibly be sought with man's mind.
The prophets, the messengers of God always advised, 'Believe that God is the One Supreme, and be obedient and patient in your inner feeling, so that your breast will open by itself, and you will be able to know your true life.' If you remember what Bapak is saying here, you will feel, Oh, yes, in that case I should only submit and be obedient and patiently receive whatever is God's will for me. God will not withhold His gift from people who have an inner feeling and heart like that. It is just such people who always receive divine guidance and protection in everything they do in their life, both in this world and in the hereafter. That's why the prophets, the messengers of God, always surrendered to God in their behaviour, and they obtained knowledge, they received something beyond the mind of man.
In general, from what you have heard of the prophets, the messengers, there was not one of them who was highly educated. Also, not one of them was known for his wisdom in the sense of the mind. The Prophet Jesus himself was born in a cattle stall. This shows that he, the Prophet Jesus, was a child who was born on the lowest level of society. People in general did not know what would happen to him, but the One God, the Most Wise, knew what He would make Jesus in the future. So people around him were amazed at how the Prophet Jesus could receive indications and knowledge beyond all human reason. It was also like that with the Prophet Muhammad, the prophet for the people of Islam. He also was born on a low level of society and later shepherded goats or other animals. So the ordinary knowledge he had was only obtained from short trips to neighbouring villages. But God is Almighty. And God chose a person or a child like that, to become, in the future, someone who would show the way for mankind.
Clearly, a revelation - the inspiration of a gift from God - cannot be bought with the mind and cleverness of man. Nor can it be sought with a man's mind, even if his mind were as high as the sky. It can only be done with patience, with a full feeling of obedience to God and a clean inner feeling. That is the only condition for all of you - or for man in general - to obtain the right guidance for your journey towards God.
What Bapak is saying here is also in agreement with what is mentioned in the holy books, if you have read them. And you have now received what Bapak is talking about: a fruit or gift of God received by man. You have to some extent received movements felt from within your self Perhaps the first time you wondered, 'What does this mean, and why is it like this?' Indeed, God gives man something beyond his mind and beyond his feelings. Thus, it is clear that what you all have received is the true, eternal worship of the One God. It is by God's will, even though it is not yet complete.
So you do not need to worry, 'Can I worship God, and how, and is this the worship of God?' Bapak is answering this now, before you yourselves have experienced it. It really is worship of God, even though it is still only a very little. One day you will be able to experience it yourselves, will be able to confirm what Bapak is saying. For now, Just listen, but do not really believe it. Only later, when you have experienced it, can you say that you really believe it.
If you are still in doubt - because most of you are still enveloped by your heart and desires - perhaps you still feel, 'I don't feel satisfied in my heart if I don't say, O God, please forgive me all my sins.' That's all right. Bapak agrees that you can do that for a moment every night or when you are sitting down and there is no one around. But if Bapak may explain, such a request is uttered by your mouth, which is filled with desires and thoughts and is not yet filled with God's will that is within man's speaking. So even if you express those words a thousand times, they will not reach God. You yourselves can vouch for this.
Certainly you will have experienced it and quietened yourselves every night and every day for months and maybe years, but what is the reality? You didn't get anything, because all of it was the will of the mind, the will of the heart and the will of the desires.
Why is it that now, when you stand to do the latihan, and someone says, 'Begin, please,' you start to move like this ? ? It is because God wills it within man's inner feeling, or your inner feeling, so that the desires that always close you up are as if opened. So when you stand for a moment and then you begin to move - even though it's only like this - it is willed by God. Although it is only a little, it goes straight to God.
It is different from when you sit like this and say, 'O God who art Almighty, O God who art Most Loving, O God, I ask you for a lot of good fortune, O God, I ask you for a long life, I ask ?' whatever you ask for, and you go on asking God for an hour.
Why do requests made like that, not for one or two days, or one or two months, but sometimes even after ten years, go unanswered? Because they are wrong; and yet you, or people, still go on doing it. When someone has asked once or twice and gets no response, he still goes on asking. It must be because the way of asking is wrong. People should look for the right path, so that when they ask they receive the answer instantly.
As Bapak said Just now, although you have only received a little, you are on the right path and when you embark upon it, you arrive here, you arrive to the power of God. Only, of course, when a baby has just been born, it will not say, 'I want to eat.' The first sounds it makes are, 'Ah, er, ah, a?' Naturally, the way instruction is given, the way someone learns, and the way someone becomes big and high, is this: everything starts small, or begins from being nothing until it becomes something. Bapak hopes you will not worry, children. You will certainly arrive there; you will grow and become adults. As with a little child, you let it grow, and as long as it is fed, it will grow bigger and bigger until before you know what is happening it has become an adult.
But sometimes there are mothers with small children who want them to walk quickly, and they keep dragging them along so they will walk fast. In doing this, they forget the child's strength, so the child breaks a leg and is harmed. What then is the reason why you are not yet able to receive completely? God knows the capacity and strength within the inner feeling of each one of you. If God knows you are already able - 'Ah, this newborn baby is already able,' even when you go to the cinema, certainly God will give to you, so that when you are quiet for a moment you feel the latihan and then la, la, la - because you are grown up. Whereas now, you only go, 'Uk, uk, uk,' like that!
It is a blessing that God in His wisdom has given the way to humanity in this time of transition. It is really very difficult, children, if Bapak may say. There are not many people who can quieten themselves in such a busy time as this. And there are not a few people who want to be peaceful, so they go away from the towns to mountains or forests in their quest for peace within their inner feeling. They think that through such peacefulness they may be able to receive the gift of God. If they get it, it is the same as what you have received. This is why Bapak says that what you have received is really the fruit that people usually try for years and years to obtain. So if you have found it in such a short time, in less than three months, it really is an extraordinary grace. So Bapak only hopes that you give thanks to the One God that you have received it. Such a feeling will automatically lessen the feeling of desire and greed in your heart, which wants to go quickly.
By way of explanation, Bapak repeats that the receiving begins with something small. It begins from this coarse physical body. This physical body is actually not just something small, for when this whole body is alive - both the seen as well as the unseen parts inside it - you have, as it were, a skill in society; you will have a kind of instinct, a state of being in contact, so you will be able to dance in ways that you have never learned. Bapak has not seen how you are in the latihan, because you are women. However, Ibu and Ismana have seen that some of you are able to dance, not in European and Western style, but in the style of Egypt and other ways you have never learned. And that's not all. Later, when your whole body has become alive, you won't only dance in the Egyptian style. When you are in a state of calm and awareness and you are moved to dance in the way that the angels dance, you will receive it instantly.
Who can teach you without learning? A human being cannot do it. Only God can. And the absolute condition - there is no other - is patience, entrusting yourself to God, obedience, and surrender to God. The mind cannot do it. The mind can only guess that maybe God is somewhere above the sun or hiding somewhere in the sun or something, and that there is a huge palace there like Buckingham Palace. That's the way the thinking works. But in fact it is not so. God's power envelops everywhere.
To verify a little what Bapak has been saying, receive as when you are receiving the latihan. Be quiet, and don't think of anything. Only Almighty God is in your heart. You don't need to stand. just stay seated ? Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah, na na na na [Bapak sings a melody]. Finish! How was it? Were you able to receive it? Bapak is far from you, not very far, but quite a distance. But why is he so close? Why were Bapak's words over there with you? It was not Bapak's strength, but because he had a bridge from God's power, he had a path from the greatness of the One God; and there is nothing that is empty of God's power. So when Bapak goes forward, he feels in contact with God; if Bapak goes back, God's power is also touched; if Bapak goes to the left, he touches God's power, and to the right, he also touches God's power. Why is it like that? Because Bapak surrenders to God, so only God exists, rather than the human being. Why are others not like that? Because their body is filled with desires, so they don't know God. They suppose that God should be looked for somewhere.
Again, to receive the reality so that you have more faith in God the Most Great, the Almighty, who really envelops the entire universe ... You all have a nose. Where is your nose? I take hold of the tip of your nose. I let go of it. I hold it again. I let go of it. Finish!
How was it? Bapak is quite a distance from you. It is not that Bapak's hand is powerful, no! It is because of God's power; so there is nothing that is empty and there is also no time that is empty. So, at whatever time and in whatever place a person dies, he is always in the lap of God. But if you keep looking for God you will remain lost, and when you die you will be under a bridge, under a tree, in the forest, in a mountain, on the sea-shore, or wherever you happen to be. That's what they call the soul or spirit of a human being who is lost. It is different from what you receive. As you go on and you have more experience, you will become more and more convinced that God really is Almighty. For now, you can only say you are convinced, because you are not yet able to experience what God's power is like.
Again. [Testing.] Once the whole of you is alive, each of the members of your body will be free and responsible for safeguarding your inner self So later, if your speech is already alive, and you say, 'O God, forgive me, and give me what I need for my life,' you will be able to receive whether you will be given it or not. For this utterance will not be an utterance of your heart and mind, but the utterance of your soul which has been awakened by God's power.
Again. [Testing.] [Inaudible.] ... to make it clearer for those of you who do not receive yet, so you will soon be able to receive. This is different from if you feel jealous or hate when one of your friends is able to receive quickly, and you express words of dislike. Then you will not be able to receive; you will be even more left behind. So if you have a friend who can receive, 'Ah, great, praise God; thanks be to God that He has given to her.' And God knows, and tells this person, 'Later you also will be able to receive because you have been very patient.' But if you see that your friend can receive and then go, 'Ahhh!' you will not be able to receive, because God knows, 'That person is full of hate and anger.' So you dirty your own heart. Clearly, by force of will you are not certain to attain what you want. It is necessary for people to work, but with patience, as they say in Dutch, langzaam maar zeker [slowly but surely].
Again. [Testing.] So if someone is one with his breath, that is to say one spiritually, he is one with his breath whatever is required of him. So when he faces death, he doesn't have to gasp or be in a hurry to breathe; he breathes slowly and then goes.
Again. [Testing.] [Inaudible.] ... to give you proof ... Very good, slowly ... But if it's like this, it's difficult and agonizing - like someone being throttled. Outwardly, someone who is sentenced to death by hanging is someone who has sinned against the state because of his wrong deeds. In reality, it is also like that when someone sins towards the One God. A person who has sinned towards God has a very difficult time in dying. So, when finally you approach your death - as everyone is sure to die, children - perhaps the people around you and your family may not guess that you are facing death, because five minutes beforehand you are still singing, and one minute before, you may say, 'I want to sleep; you stay here.' Then you go to sleep, 'Allah'... and you die. Such is the state in death of people who serve God. That is the kind of death that is happy and blessed.
Again. [Testing.] It is said that the heartbeat cannot move to the right ... In spiritual knowledge it is called the movement from the power of God, the movement from divine inspiration, from the gift of God. It comes from there, and then you are able to move. But still, it is not from the heart. The heart is only like a path. So God is not here [in the chest]. God is within everything that is within; and not only within, but also outside. So inside and outside are filled with the power of God.
Again. [Testing.] So the way for knowing how far I have reached, and how is my state, is through the various instruments that are within the self. So you can determine it yourself. That's how it should be. God has provided for all of man's needs, both in this world and in the life hereafter. So, if someone blames God because things are not going well, it is not God's fault, it is the person's own fault, because he doesn't know the abundance of everything God has given him, so what he has been given even becomes an obstruction.
For example, suppose you have a car but you cannot drive, you don't have a garage, you don't have a driver, you don't have a house and you have no space for it. The car would not be a useful accessory, to make it easy for you to go places; it would be an obstruction, it would get in your way. And you can't drive, either. It's the same with someone who doesn't yet know the abundance that is in him, which should participate in his life and help him to live right, but which on the contrary becomes an obstacle and a disturbance for him.
On the other hand the desires, the thinking and the various subhuman forces that disturb and obstruct are a stable society for someone who is able to know the abundance that is within him. So, if you need to order a beefsteak, someone is there who can cook it well. If you ask for Chinese soup, it is there, because there is someone to cook it. If I ask for Indonesian rice and vegetables, it is there because there's someone to cook it. So all your needs are fulfilled. If you make something - for example, you cook a beefsteak - everything is there, the sauce, the salt, the butter, and so on, and you can have a nice meal. If it's like that for human beings, it is the more so for God. God creates something complete, no more and no less. But someone who feels that there is something lacking is wrong; he does not turn back to see how he really is. Well, he sees, but the eyes that see cannot see behind. So look for the eyes that can see behind.
Again please. [Testing.]
Bapak thinks this is enough to give you some satisfaction. Bapak will now finish his explanation. Another day, if there's still time, Bapak will give you another talk like this. Bapak hopes all of you will receive patiently, and not be in a hurry. That's all.
I hope you can have a feeling that is patient, and entrust yourselves to God and surrender to God, so that you can always receive, even though only a little at a time. That's all.
