Tiger's Paw

I was already in a quiet state while working my beat-up taxi cab late at night in Oakland, California ... Stoping at an intersection. . .

Suddenly I saw a couple of would be car-jackers, it seemed, rushing right up to my car, with nothing good coming from their faces.

Well, folks, this subudnick remembered Bapak telling us that if we were in trouble we should immediately surrender ourselves completely to God.

I had been in the habit of getting quiet before working at that job. It was a little rough, at times, but I needed the money, so I always prepared myself first.

Within my car, and without any hesitation, I did just that.
I surrendered completely.

My head fell almost into my lap, and then instantly jurked upward, then down, then up again. A Great Force entered my right arm, and it felt like I was a giant Bengal tiger.

That hand began to rise and I turned towards the coming trouble as the paw opened up and I made the most awful sound.

The trouble turned away, and ran for their lives. I was truly grateful to God, as I also left the area, asap. My right hand was sore for a couple of hours after that fright-filled night.

Many years later, while living in Hawaii, coming home from body surfing at magic sand beach, in my old Ford Falcon. In a bit of a rush, hungry for my dinner, I had a little road rage with a driver who passed me on the hi way. He cut me off sharply, so I passed him, and gave him the "finger".

OOPS! . . . I guess I should not have done that.

Well, friends, he did me one better. . . . he forced my car off the road, got out and started toward me.

I thought to myself:

"just surrender. . . . God will fix him . ."

so I did.. . . . .

I waited.
and waited . . .

As I was waiting for God to intervene, a very large fist poked me beside the head, numbing my senses.

I could hear ringing in my ears. . . and it was not my inner self talking. He was out to get me and get me bad.

Coming to my senses, I made a quick exit of my car and ran as fast as I could down the road.

The big guy took off in his car, and while passing me, gave ME the "finger"

I felt sick, ashamed, embarrassed, and my nose began to bleed. Drove straight home, and my wife was waiting at the door.

"What happened to you?"

I confessed all, cried and cried. Not from the physical pain, but surely from the knowledge that:

"God will be with you if first you surrender and ask God to guide and protect you . . . before you do something."

In that way, you won't get into trouble as I did.

with love and good will to all,
